SOG Question - How many plants?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just a quick sog question, I have a container that is 33cm x 45cm (about 1 x 1.5ft). How many plants would be optimal to fit in this container for a SOG setup? Its about 25cm deep... thats a good depth isnt it? I will be flowering the cuttings pretty early, 2-3 weeks after cutting.. thanks!

SOG is closer to 4plants per square foot i think? I've no experience with SOG but you want to pack them in and have lots of dominant single colas.

1 plant per square foot would be more ideal for SCROG.

SOG is up to 9 plants per square foot. Basically you let them root, then maybe veg for a couple of days, then force flower.

The basic idea is to have a even & full canopy, to maximise the yield taken from an area.

Its a similar concept to Scrog, except that with Scrog, the idea is to train a plant under a screen until screen is about 1/3 to 1/2 full - strain/stretch dependant - then switch to flower, let the stretch fill the edges of the screen, then watch the buds grow above the screen.

I am a Scrogger, I have 1 plant in 2 square feet and only vegged for about 2 weeks. If I scrogged with say 2 plants, then veg time would be halved.

Also if you are going to grow either Sog or Scrog, then clones are a better way to go. Buy seeds, plant some, take a coupla clones when the plants big enough, then sex the donor plants to identify & remove males.

Then you should have a mother plant (or a few) from the clones you took.

Also with Sog, the high plant numbers can be a serious legal issue. :(

Hey mate give each plant 150mm X 150mm space i found works best

or 1 600watter for every 1200mmx1200mm tray with 64 plants, veg for 3-6 days and trun 12/12.

You should get somewhere between 1 to 2 elbows per tray dry or 7 to 14 grams per plant.

I found the 150mm net pots to be really convenient and better to use then the 150mm rw cubes.
