negative ion generators

Recommended Posts

I agree with Jack here. An ion generator may help during the vegetative period, or early flowering, but it would never keep up with full flowering. There are just too many molecules, coming out from too many places in an area which if it's running correctly, should be having a fairly constant breeze around the room, and out of it too.

Carbon filters are cheap when you consider that a good un will last 2-3 years depending on use. You can get 300x150mm units from CAPS nowadays, they're pretty darn small but would certainly look after the smell from a single 400w or even 600w growroom.

ion generators have thier place with the home cultivator I used one for ages in my "clean room " before I invested in a nice HEPA that does it all B)

but thats a bit off topic , you can find them at places liek dick smiths and harvey norman cheaply but in reality you are far better off getting a carbon filter

they ain't that expencive and they are well worth it , I have one for my flower room and one fro the drying room and have never looked back on the money well spent

Hey steve,

Carbon filter are really easy in install but can be a bit on the dear side - expect to pay at least $300.oo for a small one.

The other thing is with a carbon filter is that you got to have a fan that can pull the air through the filter - like a TD500 inline or a centrefugal fan, and again both cost above $200.oo for a average one.

Mount the carbon filter in the grow room - high up the better to remove hot humid air - and then place fan over open end of filter and ducting on end of fan. - the place where you bought the filter shoulf have reducers for the opening if required - so fan will fit on.

If you wanted a ozone gene, install it between fan and ducting -----> so you would have :- filter/fan/ozone/duct 10m long to outside.

Dont worry about a "air in" fan, just install a duct and pressure from the air out fan will draw from this - remember to keep air in down low in room and air out up high in the room.

Another idea if you done all of the above and smell is still nuking the neighbours, is to run another carbon filter in the room with a fan on top, just recirculating the air in the room (no duct) this will scrub the air in the room and take out lots of particles, so that the filter connected to the duct will work much for efficient

OR

Run a sealed room with no "air in" or "air out", using a A/C and bottled CO2. ----> you will no fans/filter/ozone for a setup like this. ---but the room has to be sealed very tight.

Jack

Ps. NIG is not a bad idea for the growroom anyways - not so much to kill smell - but for the health of the plants - negative ions seen to make the plants more robust generally more healthly- fucked if I know why - just my 2 cents.
