The Supreme Court of Canada is about to hear a thermo-nuclear warhead of a case regarding cannabis prohibition. Cannabis prohibition in Canada was declared null and void several years ago - but was re-instated by the courts. This was an illegal act - only Parliament can make laws. Once the law was struck down as unconstitutional it had no effect on Canadians - in fact all cannabis cases for a period of about 18 months were ignored because of this precedent. Officially the laws are back on the books, but this is technically illegal.

Canada currently has no cannabis laws - will the Supreme Court confirm this and strike it from the books permanently? Are we about to see Canada's cannabis industry legitimised - even permanently "legalised" by way of new legislation in the coming year?

It's been an interesting couple of years following this case. Let's all cross our fingers, as if Canada falls the rest of us will surely follow - there will be no excuse left, the evidence will be in plain site. Interesting times we live in - could this be our culture's defining moment in history? B)

There is no way Canada will make cannabis legal, the closest we'll get is decriminalization. The States has way to much influence over our Canadian politicians with trade etc, to allow them to legalize mj. So instead they keep the sentences at a minimum for growers, and all the gangs run it down to the states and bring coke back. The prices are so low in Canada, so this is what the gangs do to make a profit off of mj again...Prices are no longer $3g's a lbs here...Your lucky to get $2200/lbs. In B.C lbs go for about $1600.....They say there is a grow house every 10 houses in Canada, that just means 1 in 10 has at least a plant growing. The big problem is the viets converting houses into a full grow op, and stealing power, ruining the house, and giving other growers a bad name. Cops are cracking down on gang affliated grows here, which is good for growers who are not involved with anyone....
