Aero cloner with pics

Recommended Posts

Where do I get these setups?? Ah I just re-read the thread. You made yours.

I have seen these in hysro shops, they use the little sprayers also.

I wonder if a mister would make emough to do the job??

http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/category21_1.htm

is what Im thinking about using?? anyone tried these things??

$55-00 is pretty cheap for a mister and also not too bad compared to a good pump.

Im just thinking a combination of a mister and a strong airpump would really make these things humm.

That would make a pretty good SOG system too wouldnt it??

eg- clone them in there and then veg and flower them in the same system.

You wont get big plants but should be enough for a personal smoker.?

Also I think this actually caused the roots to grow slightly faster, but would not reccomend donin it.
It would've made the plants go searching for water, so that makes sense.

Nice set-up mate, I've always wanted to give it a go but haven't gotten around to it. I'll be referring back to your thread when I do give it a go :thumbsup Keep the pics coming mate, they're looking great!

Depends how much you smoke man B) ::D:

Depends how much you smoke man

:D

yea not enough for you or me Chev, But it looks like a fairly easy system if someone wanted to grow just enough for a bit to smoke.

I would probably smoke what it makes in 1 week B), but then i smoke for med reasons, not just to feel GREAT! although it does that too.

Yea Im keen to follow this one too.

Whats triggerring in my mind is the air bubble that is produced when you cut the cuttings.

Eg- you cut the clones under water to prevent this. but in this system they are open.

Maybe you need to scarifiy the stalks for the roots to grow from??

I did my first water change today on the cutts - running a EC of 1.0 - they will be starting to really kick into vegie growth over the next week ready to transplant into a bigger system - again wipe out everything with a anti-fungal wash.

Hey f420, I really believe aeroponics is the key to fast growth and large yeilds, but you really have to have your system dialed in, the slightest chance in PH/nute temp/EC really effect the plants quickly when grown using aerponics. Ive also found that root fungas are very easy to get using a aeroponic system - usually caused by high nutes temps.

In currently buildind a hybrid Freedom/Aeroponic tree bucket system - what I like about aerponics is that you can check out the roots of the plant - really a big plus if you want to know about the health of the plant.

Another problem with aeroponics is the sprayers blocking up - you need a really good inline filter.

The finer the mist the better - but ive found that a little powerhead pump does fine to clone cutts - ive have done zero maintance to these plants since taking the cutts - you dont have to fuck around with humidity domes or misting or harding off or watering - if you have problems doing cutts, this system will work for you.

If I was to flore using aerponics I would not use a powerhead to move the water. What I would do is use a high pressure external pump (with a pressure swith to turn on and off) that is connected to the water resi at one end and the other end connected a presurised holdind tank (so the pump is not running all the time). You could use the really fine metal sprayers to trully mist the roots with more oxygen this way.

Yeah, aero is ultimate hydro, but as you've said, it's a method that requires total control of the rooting environment, something many growers simply aren't able to manage...

Aero cloners are a good method of taking cuttings, but need to be transplanted out into media fairly quickly after rooting, as they develop roots specific to the aeroponic environment. If these roots are grown too long, and are then placed into a media which is naturally less aerated than aeroponics, (everything is really) they can die off and cause problems for esablishment.

So yeah, if you take your cuttings with an aero cloner, and are potting up into a media for the grow proper, then yeah, do it before the roots have developed much past a cm, otherwise you could have some root troubles, particularly with the more dense media like cocopeat and soilless mixes.

Just an opinion to add there, but great thread there Jack, something that all aspiring hydro users should do is play around with as many different methods as they can. There is no "best" way of growing, only the one that works "best" for you as an individual grower in your individual circumstances. Aero Cloning is a great way to get good success rates, and you get to watch the callous and roots start to develop. :o

Good stuff mate. :D

p.s. you should check out the latest ranges of sonic vapourisers/misting systems, producing "dry water" which is absorbed by plants in aero systems like nothing else before. I've seen one of the newer ones running, and god damn is it cool. B)

Hey Luke ive been trying for ages to find a ozzie web site that sell ultra-sonic dry foggers, you would know where I could find one.

I think they would be awesone to foliar feed with and deliver mould killing agents to every part of the room.

Would like to experiment dry fogging the root zone also.

Pulled all cutts out of aerocloner today 100% success with 40 clones. About 90% had roots over 150mm long and have grown over 50mm on top - have turned that light green colour in the centre also.

Out of the 40 cutts about 20 will be used. The rest will be given away.

Will be cutting some more soon - will keep you posted on next round, with pics.

Sorry camera is not here for this post.
