Hi all: I have been following this grow program, and IM WONDERING IF ITS ALL WORTH DOING?

Can I get one of the MODS to go over and read this thing to see if its just smoke or the truth.

Some claim that by soaking plants in ethryl, an ethylene producing substance, that seeds can be influenced towards femaleness.

 

I think it's a buncha hokum, which may be true for some dioecious plants, but I wouldn't be terribly confident in its abilities to alter the sex of MJ.

 

So yeah, I'd say you're better of just buying "normal" seeds, removing the males when they appear. Selection is everything, so the larger the amount of seedlings sown, and thus amount of plants to select from, the better your odds of getting a really spectacular female.

Hate to stir the shit pot. But there is away of "producing female only seeds" It has somtning to do with what they do to the plant producing the seeds and not manipulting the seeds them self. There was even a topic on overgrow about an acidic spray you can use on males as they appear to coerse them back to being female. (hope my girlfriend doesn't get any ideas about burning my balls of with acid!).

 

Anyway, I'm no expert, just repeating what I read elsewhere. Bought my "Femmed" seeds for my first grow. So it'll be interesting to see if I get any males.

"Feminised" seeds are produced by stressing a pure female plant to hermie and using the pollen from that to fertilise another pure female, as far as I know their is no chemical that can change the genes of a seed from male to female.

It's a form of alcohol, methylated spirits is around 96% ethyl.
