Hey guys, got myself a 600wt HPS, got it setup inside cuboard atm.. quite small space.. think 2 milk crates, 1 ontop of each other, bout that big.. that gonna be a problem? running 48degrees atm.. that bad? .. using A4 paper as reflection atm.. will it catch on fire and or even reflect? im manually watering my plants with straight water 3 times a day.. there only about a toothpick and a half tall + wide, they stretched heaps.. ( currently in soil little squares )

Oh and im temporaraly using pieces of coathanger to hold my lamp up.. its secure as long as the light doesnt heat the metal and bend it.. this is all just a temporary setup.. just need to start! :devilred:

Anyone that could help would be appreciated lol

the temp range you should aim for is 20 - 30 deg celceous with 45 - 70 % humidity

my sugestion woul dbe to run compact fluro's untill you can sort out a larger grow box for yourself , 600 watts is really not even reccomended for closet grows but as long as you use good ventilation you can get away with it ok

as for reflecting stuff , your better off with nothing rather than a4 paper , the fire risk is just too high , I reccomend flat white paint personaly

testing extracts atm so not 100% coherant will reply again later though :devilred: for now switch the lights off

There are a few things that jump to my mind that i feel are really wrong with this setup.

First is space Vrs the ammount of light you are running. It's far too small a space if you are not using any kind of fans or vents to get rid of excess heat.

You are going to have major problems when or if the plants get to a flowering height. meaning when you switch them over to 12/12 they are going to jump in size. So unless you are wanting to grow bonsi MJ i suggest you find some where with some more space.

Seems to me like your making one of the fatal mistakes of a first time grower which is impatience? would i be right in suggesting that?

If you take some time to do some more study you'll be able to create a good space to grow.

Best to only be watering them once per day.

48 deg is bad... imagine you had to spend all your time in a room at 48 deg.??

You would feel fucked up as well... I'm sure.

Get the A4 paper out of there... This sounds bad..

maybe put a smoke detector in there with them if you are really worried. I get nervious when i read post like this.. again i suggest you just chill and work out what your doing.

Do you have any intake fans? to bring fresh air into the area?

Good luck,

Xpat

Was sitting next to the cuboard while the light was on.. seemed safe enough. No harm done minus 1 half burnt leaf out of 4 plants... was only on for 45 - 60 mins.

XPAT: Dont think its impatience, think its lack exp in growing/building. im growing for personal use only, ive read/seen alot in the last 2 years .. just never got to do any hands on stuff.

And with the paper.. was an experiment.. seemed more reflective then dark brown.

meh :devilred:
