Two die in drug spotter plane crash

A POLICE officer and a civilian were killed when their light plane crashed while looking for cannabis plantations in New Zealand's South Island.

Detective Travis Hughes, 37, and civilian pilot Chris Scott, 33, died when their Cessna 172 plane crashed in the Gibbston Valley, east of Queenstown, during a routine cannabis reconnaissance flight soon after midday yesterday.

 

A rescue helicopter from Queenstown located the wreckage about 1.30pm (NZT) after the plane's emergency locater beacon was activated.

 

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission said the cause of the crash was unknown.

So not only do they waste money looking but they waste lifes aswell , when will they just accept it has the potential to do SO much good and they should spend time on things that are truely impacting society like the amount of drug users that end up that way because of physical or sexual abuse or having alchoholics as parents these things have more people killing themselfs and being over medicated every year than any drug does , if ya got a hard on for fighting the war on drugs bother the amphetamine, and mdma manufacturers, cause the way things are atm they have the LEO's l fooled and FAR out budgeted . Hell if it wasn't for certain governments we wouldn't even have allot of our desnger drugs
