Corby drug trial adjourned

Recommended Posts

This is getting bloody silly.

Anyways I was reading up about overseas laws and found this statement- not bali I know but still scarey as heck.

In Singapore, if the blood content is high enough, you can hang for having it in your system, not just in your possession.

This is a copy of the news from channel 7- http://seven.com.au/news/topstories/170231

The Indonesian lawyer for accused drug smuggler Schapelle Corby is confident her legal team will be able introduce new evidence that would show she was unknowingly used as a courier by drug smugglers.

The Gold Coast beauty therapy student faces the death penalty if found guilty by an Indonesian court of smuggling 4.1kg of cannabis into Indonesia.

The marijuana was found in her boogie board bag at Bali's Denpasar Airport last October.

New evidence emerged on Wednesday that 27-year-old Ms Corby was unknowingly used as a courier by organised interstate drug smugglers, after a man came forward and signed an affidavit naming three baggage handlers as those who had planted the drugs.

However, under Indonesia's constitution, the court does not have to hear new evidence from outside the country.

"What do you do, throw the girl to the gallows and just forget about her?" Ms Corby's Indonesian lawyer Vasu Rashiah said.

"The constitution can say that but they are also human beings, they have daughters and sons.

"It could happen to anybody. The constitution can say whatever they want to say, but now we have evidence.

"If the guy who gave the statement can come forward at the risk of his life to give some documents, why can't the government do something?"

Mr Rashiah said the new evidence included a detailed explanation of the drug smuggling operation.

"He (the informer) has given names, he has given the operation title and what has happened," he said

"We also have evidence of Interpol operations where they identified baggage handlers putting drugs (in luggage), they take drugs out of Sydney and the police have made errors in the baggage handlers area."

Ms Corby's lawyers are expected to seek an adjournment in her case if the trial resumes, as scheduled, on Thursday.

They hope to lodge the statement after the adjournment, which could be sometime later next week.

It's not Bali you dickhead, it's the Indonesian (in)justice system. Corrupt as all hell the Balinese are often it's victims as much as anyone else. It's not so surprising, Indonesia is still 3rd world and it's "democracy" is very immature and in desperate need of reform against the old guard. Although none of this helps the unfortuanate Corby, but you should try and put it in perspective and not act like an ignoramous.

Yeah what luck for her..

Those bagage handlers have probably been doing it for years? Pretty bad fuck up sending it on to Bali tho.. I wonder why they got ratted on... I mean surely they could have anonymously tried to show it wasnt her?

Anyway Bali is corrupt as fuck, Im not returning untill they release Corby.. I have been there 7 times. Ive bribed police there many times. So next trip is fiji or thailand for me.. Bali is off my list untill they get a damn clue.

Pretty disappointing to see that, like some of the mindless fucks running the

Indonesian judicial system, some fellow aussies and oz stoners no less, are just as quick to pronounce Corby guilty without a shred of evidence just brain dead opinions. Only now that substantial doubt has been cast do these wankers retract.

Maybe you should join them over there.

maybe some of them are a bit quick to jump the gun and say that she is guilty or not, personally i believe she is innocent BUT i have made my decision with a total lack of evidence as well and could be totally wrong...

if there was any evidence apart from a convict saying that he heard some guys talking about it, she would either be dead or back in australia...lets just hope that she is doing ok and hasnt been gang probed or what ever gets the indo crims off :(
