2642 plants found in san francisco

Recommended Posts

A garage fire caused by faulty wiring led to the discovery of $2.2 million worth of marijuana plants in a home in the Sunset District, authorities said.

The incident began when firefighters, summoned to the residence at 2359 20th Ave. at 11 p.m. Thursday, spotted the operation. The fire was quickly put out.

Police arrived and entered the three-story home, which had marijuana growing in every room, said Capt. Tim Hettrich of the narcotics detail.

Hettrich said 2,642 plants -- in various stages of growth -- were found. Police also found 14 pounds of marijuana ready for sale, he said.

"We figure, on each floor, he had 900 plants," Hettrich said. Five plants will yield 1 pound of marijuana worth roughly $4,000.

Hettrich said no one has been arrested. "We don't know if it was the homeowner who was growing this, or a renter," he said. "We will find out."

He said the home in this case was seriously damaged, with wires dangerously rigged, damage to the walls and water on the floors.

Just goes to show - if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. If they had ripped up all the carpet and tiled the place then got a proper sparky through and wired it for that kind of grow (absolute peanuts compared to what they would make) as well as proper ventilation etc, they would have been sweet. And the residents of SF would have been happy. :(
