Some questions from a 1st timer

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, today I got 11 seeds from one of my brothers mates and soon i'll be hoping to plant them at a spot near my house. Im planning to put some good soil in a bucket/pot and plant it in that because the soil at the spot wouldnt be very good for growing. Anyway i'm completely new to growing so ill need some help from the people here B) I've heard the 1st thing you have to do is germinate the seeds, how would I go about doing this, and then what comes after that? Cheers :smoke

Go Ahead and plant all your seeds. You can Always get more. You may not get much but plant all the seeds you can.I have been growing outside since the mid seventies.I have done some crazy chit in those years.Even have one bed that comes back every year B) But it doesnt matter,if you are young and the weed isnt the best you will still enjoy it.Its a mind thing,I seem to enjoy my weed all year round.Just started growing inside ( Why I will never figure) but just play with it even if the season is gone, you may get a bud or two.As long as you dont get caught ,what the heck...you may learn something.Just me I am high although dont listen to me.post-2554-1106636565_thumb.jpg

You'll likely succeed much better with a quality assured, (those red ticks) potting mix, planted out into large pots.

Be as gentle as possible when transplanting, and let them rip in full sun.

If you are in a particularly hot area though, you may want to slowly acclimatise the young plants to their new position, and afternoon shade from a tree can help the plants to avoid moisture stresses which can be common in hotter areas of australia.

And yeah, you may not get much, the outdoor season for planting is pretty much over, but this grow will teach you a heck of a lot about growing without too much to lose.

Hope that helps, and good luck mate. :devilred:

Almost forgot. Make sure you have excellent drainage in your pots, you can ensure this with a layer of perlite in the base, covering the drain holes, (you can prevent it from falling out if the holes are really big with some shadecloth, netting or a potsock, but I find it usually locks itself into position once wet :devilred: ) which will help to ensure that there is no impediment to draining fully. Gravel can do the same job, but I find expanded clay just ends up falling out most holes. If only they made that stuff about 20mm wide.... ahh well

But yeah, get drainage great, and your plants will love ya. You'll need to water more often if it's really, really open, but they'll grow more strongly and with better yeilds from the increased oxygen available at the rootzone.

lol
