goddamn spider mites

Recommended Posts

goddamn they are lil bastards ;)

have sprayed my ladies with "mavrik" chewing & sucking insect killer like 4 days ago and then yesterday...both times i pruned the leaf that had eggs under them just to make sure i make their population smaller every time :thumbdown feel like a bastard for trimming my babies ;) but i didnt want to risk the eggs hatching anywhere near my ladies so i fed the leaf to the cat after rinsing the leaf off and b4 spraying....cat went mental trying to get the leaf from me so i figured as a treat for locking her outter the 1/2 the house (cuz she would eat my plants otherwise :o ) i would give it to her...

i only have a small amount of this bug killer made up and none left in the orginal container so im hoping the bastards dont get all cocky and survive just to become immune to the poison :thumbdown active ingredient is fluvalinate and when i was spraying my girls it made me cough a bit so i moved back, closed the eyes and coated them like crazy....

after reading up heaps about spidermites on these forums, i have come to the conclusion that i need to plant a couple of cloves of garlic around my plants and/or get some predator mites ordered in...planting garlic would probably take a bit longer to take hold in the setup but the predator mite could also take a bit to arrive and i dont wanna risk my babies getitng fucked in the mean time....

when i looked at my plants before, i noticed a tiny bit of burning on the tips of a couple of leaves but no new damage from mites...spose thats a great thing and i should be happy as a pig in shit :smoke just i have a feeling i have only helped to create a super might immune to another poison :thumbdown

if anyone here has any more ideas to naturally get rid of these fuckers and quickly without risking making a super bug, please let me know....im leaning more towards the predator might as its a carnivore and after killing off the spider mights they go and eat each other :smoke bet the last one to survive is fat as ;)

if your desperate bro, you can chemically nuke the little fuckers - go to bunnings and buy insectiside call "red spider mite" remover. Follow instructions - i think you have to reapply every seven days until there gone. - this product will slow growth of your plant, but the mites wil be gone. - have forgotten active ingredigent name.

other wise ----

organic wise try fresh garlic juice misted everyday until there gone - it does work but not as fast as WMD.

hope this helps

Jack.

no matter what ya use always hit them again a few days later to get any eggs or babies ,

I used mite rid when I had mites and it worked wonders , best of all it is highly concentrated so it lasts you ages if you need it

also remember to do your treatment at lights out , at least thats the case with most of the stuff I have seen ;)

will definately look into that but im not sure i want a product that will mess with my plants growth :scratchin

Don't be suprised if it takes a few weeks to shake them, as they only need a couple of eggs left behind to start all over again.

yeah i have seen a few more eggs and cut the leaves out and fed them to the cat ;)...wonder if the eggs would be bad for her :scratchin

where did u get the mite rid? anything that works wonders for a fellow grower is always worth a try :smoke

when i sprayed them with garlic water, it was like 20 mins b4 the light was meant to turn on and the plants had the water dry on the leaves after the light turned on :thumbdown left some burnt tinges on the plants but then the mites took over the leaves so i cut them away :thumbdown

my plants are looking quite nice at the moment...i clipped the tops of the growing shoots on each of the plants and have atleast 6 brnaches per plant as is :thumbsup still got another week or so of vege then im taking my cuttings, turning them to flowering and donating a few clones to a mod to run a comp on here or something, will have to work that out :smoke

If you are worried about your cat eating spider mites you should be even more worried about feeding it leaves covered in poison. If the medium the poison is in is oil based rinsing it in hot or cold wont get rid of it and a surfactant will posibly hurt the cat or make it sick.

As far as the spider mite eggs go you might try scraping the eggs into a container with boiling water in it. It would be horrible to thing your cat is walking around dropping spidermites out its bum (spidermite factory).

im pretty sure the active ingrediant in all red spidermite sprays are the same. That shit does slow the growth of your plants - and yes ive had hem in the past - and yes they are cunts of things. Two eggs get missed and your fucked again.

preventive treatment is much better then cure ---- seal your grow room --- dont bring other peoples clones in either.

Best device ive seen to apply any foliar liquid is a ultra-sonic cold humidifer - after ten minutes and you cant see your hand in front of your face- but its totally dry - you dont get wet, the drops are to small.

sounds great :thumbsup but what about electricals? i would assume as the droplets are that small they would get in and on everything around the humidifer :scratchin

i cant toally seal the area up :thumbdown would get way too hot and most likey burn the shit out of my plants if not the house...cant have that happening ;) but as for the clones, ordered them from aussieSPC and i trust they were all healthy and bug free when i got them...although 2 out of the 3 had slight burning on the sides of the leaves when i got them, that has all been taken care of now and the ladies are growing like crazy :reallyexcited:

i only have the bathroom window open which has a fly screen on it and a fan blowing from the bathroom doorway into the grow area which is directly opposite the the bathroom....keeps the room like 5 degrees cooler so if its whats blowing in the bugs i dont want to remove it but i would...

yeah i was a lil concerned about the cat eating the leaf because of the poision...i dont know if its oil based but i did give the leaves a fairly big rinse just to make myself feel better about giving it to her....i was thinking about binning the leaf but since some ghetto cunt burnt my bin down i figured i aint leaving eggs in the house just to hatch so fed the cat :whistling as for her being a spidermite factory i nearly fell off my chari laughing when i read that ;)...could eggs survive the cats digestive system? i was thinking no, but it would be interesting to know :scratchin

got mite rid from my local hydro shop wink.gif

and yeah I love it hey allot of the other stuff you use a spray bottle and then you go buy more this stuff fills a good 10 - 15 bottles , I stil have most of it smile.gif

any ideas on the price? i will be going into my local hydro shop on the 19th so will pick some up if the bastards are still around...

thanks for all the help guys :smoke
