Moving Outdoor plants???

Recommended Posts

Greetings...

This was not a planned grow by any means, I just found a bunch of old different seeds from a wooden container I had on my desk just to see what would come up... When I saw the first two round leaves, and then the other two that follow, it dawned on me what had sprouted (I remember what seedlings look like from when friends grew a few years back). Anyway, I figured that I'd just play around because it's not like it would be great effort because I have a little ethno garden anyway, but give it to a friend when it grows up. So it's sitting on my deck and getting alot of nice summer light (basically all day), and I have been experimenting with pruning from a youngish age (just want to see if I can sucessfully make it branch out instead of up). All of this is more of an experiment and getting to know how to take care and plan a proper grow.

Here's where the problem comes in:

I have a feeling that the world is going to be nice to me and bless me with a girl, but even if that doesn't happen it's no real loss. Because of it's location it has a bit of visibility from neighbours, and therefore it probably should probably migrate it down the back yard where I have some herbs and a little N. rustica plot before it starts bushing out (leaves look sativa dominant) because it's not going to grow very tall and we've got 6ft foot fences anyway. It won't be visible, but it doesn't get as much light there because our house faces east and it will miss the direct morning light.

Would this immediate change in lighting bring on pre-flowering???

IMO, most likely :scratchin would definately be strain dependant and it will also be determined by how many hours of direct sunlight the plant gets...most people say 4 hours minimum to get a dense lush bush, i would try for 6-8 hours if u can....

some people say that morning sun is stronger than afternoon sun, personally i think its the same as in the morning its cold and things warm up, in the arvo its usually hot and the sun is leaving our view and cooling things down....shouldnt matter which it gets, as long as it gets a fair share of sun during the day :thumbsup

if u can, bring the plant indoor of a night and put it under a fluro...this will prolong the vegetative state and will give u a bigger plan in the long run :thumbsup

Okay, it has been moved into its new home.

I think that it would get at the very least 4 hours now, because it is smaller, but either way my rusticas love the spot so I don't think there will be much of a problem regarding light. They went from 6 young plants in one pot that had been left too long and were looking a bit mangled from crowding and trying to get light, to 6 healthy plants... within a week.

My fear was mainly that because she (got out the magnifying glass and checked the 4th nodes - Its a girl ;)) had been used to getting great sunlight and then a sudden change in light cycle might mess things up a little. It should be okay though, fertile soil and good drainage, plenty of root space as well. I am aware that I have to be careful with nutrients in the soil because all the Nicotiana sp. really leech the soil of nitrogen. I have also paperclipped the 2 main growth shoots (from early topping), and I will probably play around as much as possible with this little girl... big yield isn't really a priority, but learning the best way to increase and conceal is.

got a pic of the paperclipping? never heard of anyone doing that so it would be interesting to see :scratchin

im glad you have yourself a female :smoke but i would keep that one safe and growing while testing out different things on a different plant...big yield my not be a priority for you but the more the better IMO :smoke

glad they are all kicking along for you so nicely and keep them going that was and they will treat u nicely in return :thumbsup
