i hate my setup

Recommended Posts

Son-T-Agro 400watt hps $32.05

Sunmaster 400watt hps $36.50

SolarMax 400watt hps $41.45

Lucragrow 400watt hps $59.96

now i can afford that straight up on payday no probs, hell if i were to get either of the top 2 globes i listed i would probably buy 2 just incase 1 blows......fuck my hydro shop off and its bullshit spasticated prices :thumbdown

which globe would u guys recommend? i will be purchasing atleast 1 of these next wednesday and untill then my babies are fucked lol so i want the best light possible for them and will do everything i can to make them grow to their potential :smoke so far im thinking the lucragrow as it puts out 1000 more lumens than the son-t plus i have seen them being used before...but the sunmaster is tickling my fancy , its meant to last 50% longer which would outweigh a measily 1000 lumens if its true :smoke

thanks again for everyones help, if i get everything going all good i'll vege my babies a bit longer, take extra cuttings and donate them to ozstoners....that way the bigger more exprienced growers can get ahold of white rhino and share the cuttings they make in the future :thumbsup just 1 big community looking out for each other, just gotta love it :yingyang

Looks like Ph to me mate.

I tried 2 grows using the coco and its a very unforgiving medium.

What to do though?? hmm This doesnt mean its the correct thing to do and i only have limited knowledge of growing in coco. so hopefully some coco grower will pitch in and help us out here.

I would first of all buy some HYDRO ph adjusters, as most fish tank ph adjusters are not best for plant growth inless they are aqutica plants.

Whats the ingrediant in yours??

The pH of the drip water should be applied at 5.2 to 5.8. The run off should be maintained at 5.3 to 6.3

do yourself a favour and read-

cocopeat website

oh and the above post was done before I posted this, so My answer is to go with the Sont-agro bulb as it is the best bulb for using for veging and flowering.

Failing that my second choice would be the sunmaster. but only because I have used one before. :thumbsup

i love peerguardian....when i clicked on that link, i got 12 connection rejections like this...

Connection Rejected: 203.147.158.160 - gov.au/WebCentral Pty Ltd AP2P (12-28-2004 @ 12:05:40)

think i'll disable PG for a min and check the site out, u said it would be doing myself a favour after all and i trust your jusdgement :thumbsup

no fancy watering systems, all done by hand....and the waste water goes out the bottom into the trays that came with the pots....i usually let it just evapourate to create a tad more humidity in the setup....

i think i'll have to pickup a decent pH tester, one that can do both soil and water + is digital so there can be no fuck assin about :smoke any1 got 1 like the one im chasin for sale  or know where i can pick 1 up??? $50-80 would be my absolute max for spending on it.....the way things are going this system is eating my money worse than my smokin habit and it hasnt given nothing in return.....starting to get pissed off lol :thumbdown

Cocopeat's PH is slightly acid 5.8-6.4

well thats what it says on the site anyways...

i put pH down in the water when i expanded the brick so i woiuld have lowered it even more + the waterings with pH down would have made it even lower...

but when i tested the medium, it showed around 7 :scratchin

im fucking confused as, my head is saying ur a fool, u know its the lamp as it was second hand....the more sane part of me says that not everything second hand is shit but considering i dont know who i bought it off or how they used it, it will not suprise me if the lamp is giving off bad light, a gas or something else that is fucking with the plants....

i cant take this, im stressin like crazy, need a cone and this fuckin system SUCKS!!!!

Hey matey, sounds like you've got a fair bit of hassle there atm. I personally wouldn't just leave it at PH alone as the problem, what's the weather like where you are? If it's anything like here, I'm not suprised they're a little stressed, we've been having hassles with our ladies since the warmer weather moved in.

Also, have you got a couple of pedestal fans? Movement of air is quite important

It's pretty funky anyway, I hope you get it sorted. And as for coco, if you can get it right, it's hot shit. But I had heaps of dramas with it, so we switched back to perlite/vermiculite and a run to waste system. It works out cheaper I reckon anyway(run to waste). So yeah, basically, I'd probably look at changing your set-up to something different and see how you go.

One other thing-You can't see anything flying around, or any bugs on the plants? Fungus Gnat love this time of year, and shore fly

The light IMO will not cause these sorts of problem.

Lights can be used for years without any problems. Its just better to change them to keep the yeild higher.

The yeild will get lower and lower but the plant will stay happy.

Im thinking more along the lines of ph, but it could possibly be ventilation.

Hmm maybe its overwatering the plant??

i only watered them once to that degree and when i did, the plants were not in the pots at the time, i just wanted to make sure all the coco was totally wet and when i let it dry off, i emptied the base of water so it was just shiny not full of water....

as for ventilation, well its not the best and i know it...i have a fan that sits in the same size pot as the plants blowing air all over them...i also have moved my smaller fan so its blowing over the clobe and the reflecter and out the doors...i usually keep a window open on the other side of the hallway (mainly because it get much better wind and is totally out of sight from my nosey ass ghetto trash neighbours) and sometimes i keep the spare room windows open depending on the weather...

now about the weather...it sucks total ass lol one day its like 40 degrees, the next it'll be 15 and pissing down rain.....on the really hot days i turn the system right off except for the big fan just so my babies can stay nice and cool....sure this messes up the light cycle but when its 40 degrees and u have a 400watt hps all lit up and powering away in a wardrobe it gets real hot, real quick :thumbdown 90% of the time its around 25-32 degrees out and 20-28 inside....in the setup it says about 25-30 when the light is on but since i have moved the smaller fan to blow better on the globe it could get hotter or cooler, not sure yet....humidity could be an issue and although i have no way of testing how high it can get, im fairly certain its within normal range....

although no1 knows about my babies, im seriously considering moving them outside just to prevent them getting worse, but then they will be stolen lol i just cant win and im getting into a fully depressed/shitted off mood and am killing for a cone....think i might dreg the bong later if i cant get anything

oh and since the initial watering, they have been given small amount of nutes (1/4 strength) and was given in an eye dropper at the base of the plant...since they got their first 2 shots they took off quite nicely and grew about 0.5cm lol

just lookin at my babies turns me into a lil cryin girl, i hate seeing them suffer  they need a decent grower....i can grow outdoors no probs except for thieves....and thats where they would be if i didnt have that problem lol

oh and i had 1 spider in there the other day....noticed it setting up shop and i squished the fuck out of it....havent had a single bug issue apart from it in that wardrobe what so ever :thumbsup

I would go for the Son T Agro too, stuff paying $60 for a Lucagrow. Did you get those prices from the site i gave you?

You said that light and shade was 2nd hand? Those Intergrated Shades are $175 brand new complete with globe.

Don't lose heart yet, it might cost alot to get setup but once you have your gear, upkeep gets a whole lot cheaper.
