how do i get prescribed medical cannabis in australia?

is it possible to get prescribed medical cannabis in australia for anxiety, depression or bipolar? I currently suffer from all three and want to know my options.

If you can get a medical referral from your GP, then yes you can

BUT

When it comes to anxiety, depression or bipolar some dr's question canna as being the cause rather than the solution and won't provide a referral due to the risk of making symptoms worse.

It really can depend on your GP. Some simply won't consider canna for ANY ailment

 

But if they will give you a referral then, here's the processes I went through:

I’m curious if anyone’s tried going through their regular GP lately instead of a cannabis clinic. I’ve heard some local doctors are more open now and might even handle the TGA application themselves.

I remember I went through my regular GP who wasn’t super familiar with it, but they referred me to a doctor who handles medical cannabis. Took a few weeks, but worth the wait.

well...in short – you’ll need a doctor’s approval. In Australia, medical cannabis is legal but tightly regulated. You must get a prescription through an authorized prescriber or via the Special Access Scheme (SAS Category B).
