well, here's another yank's opinion regarding the situation here:

 

marijuana will be legal in the us, at some point.

 

the study by the aarp showed that as they went younger and younger, the %'s that were for mj usage, even for medicinal purposes, went up. That is, the acceptance was higher as the ages went lower. many possible reasons for this but this is the one that sticks out in my mind: all the baby-boomers (people born in the late 40's through the 50's) are starting to retire. that is significant because most of those people were hippies and flower children when they were in their 20's (or younger) and was the first generation in america that accepted and embraces mj, even (obviously) for recreational purposes. as each generation after that grew older into that age, more and more started to use mj. so taking a look at my generation, when we get older the level of % of acceptance will be gargantuanly high. so when my generation become old farts, the younger (liberal, hopefully) generation will have taken over the government.

 

of course, that is a very long time off, so many things could happen in between now and then.

 

now, in regards to being an american while we have that man as our leader:

 

yes i know that our government sucks. we have old white men who are out of touch with what the sensible, emphasis on that, population wants. i'm sorry, but as long as we have an ignorant america, whether they be rich, poor, or in the middle, then america will always be like this. it's not surprising that the coasts of the country, compared to the inside of the country, are much more liberal and progressive. as long as the stupid ignortant middle american republican (sometimes democratic, but mostly republican) christian man is the backbone of our country, then that is what you better expect of our country. do you honestly think that i want to live in a country like this while i'm young? maybe to raise a family there, yes, but when i'm an old geezer i'm either off to israel or nz/oz (if i like it, but i doubt that i won't). its a shame that we have an intelligent progressive youth trapped in such a place. yes, we are extremely rich and blessed compared to many other countries. but i would rather trade that than to stay in a country where the rules are bent for crooked politicians and where young people are sent off to wantonly die for more money in our crooked leaders' pockets. if you haven't then watch fahrenheit 911. yes it was a loose-facted documentary, but even if you take it at face value, it just shows how un-fixable our system is.

 

sorry for the rant, but i wanted to make sure that an american jewish liberal progressive opinion was made clear
