I cant understand the noise from chains thing??

 

I have always used chain and it doesnt make any noise. theres nothing moving ot hitting it??

I think they all use pulleys instead of just hooks Ferengi420, dragging chain through a pulley would be pretty noisy compared to unhooking a chain and hooking it back up a few links along.

ah I get ya now. yea chains would make more noise then.

And not as smooth as line.

I would consider using clothes line then. Its metal wire surrounded in plastic Like Stonedas has got kinda.

Well Guys I went to the hardware store and got some Eye bolts and Bolts in general so I can finally mount the light. No problems there. But I asked for some Heat resistant rope at 2 different Hardware Stores and they basically looked at me as if I was living on another planet?

So I think I may have to use normal Nylon or Cotton Rope?

 

Not sure about using Clothesline especially with plastic covering/coating as wouldnt that possibly melt with sufficient heat from the light. Mind you I havn't even turned the light on long enough to see how much heat does come off it over time. I guess I should do that first and see how it goes.

 

How do you find using Clothesline Stonedas especially with the plastic covering/coating?

 

And chain would be to noisy running through metal runners or something like that. Will definetely be using some kind of Rope instead.

the plastic coated wire was right next to where they keep the chains.. It might be clothes line wire, but i think thats to rigid?, this stuff bends round pulleys real easy and is looped and clipped with a small D clamp which is hooked onto cleates on the wall..There was different thickness wires aswell... hope that helps

anyone lookig to save a bit of cash may wanna look into a pre-made clothes lines that are made up of that metal coated wire , if you can ge what ya need they seemed to be cheaper than buying the cables themselfs for some reason :-/
