Do we need bloom boosters?!?!

Recommended Posts

Ok so this might be a bit of a contentious issue but do we need bloom boosters when growing in soil? I've been doing some research and came across this interesting blog article.

https://www.gardenmyths.com/bloom-booster-fertilizer-nonsense/

Ok so it talks about roses mainly but the author has a background in chemistry and biochemistry as well as owning a 6 acre private botanical garden with over 3000 perennials, trees, grasses and shrubs (not sure if cannabis is in there somewhere but he is from Canada so perhaps lol).

Anyway commence conversation -

Yeah I’ve been using a PK booster in soil for years.

I’ve ran side by side comparisons a few times years ago.

I always found the PK boosted buds to be a bit more dense or less fluffy duck.

I’ll keep using them a $30 bottle lasts me 12 months so it’s good value.

I guess it's more of what you are trying to achieve, like Australian soils are notorious for having low phosphorus (why Australia has ripped off a Polynesian country and completely and utterly tore apart and continues to reap an island for it's phosphorus deposits)

Of course if your trying to achieve an organic grow then yeah you can grow and produce decent sized buds one the first year or first few years while properly amending the soils and increasing microbe activity and such.

So I guess the answer is no you don't have to use PK boosters but sure is handy to utilize

I have been talking to hydro store owner about this recently, He recommended me to use some triacontanol with c02 once I max out my PPFD in my area with LED he claims to have some large increases in yeild.

Otherwise i have been doing some reading into micro nutrients during cannabis flowering, seems to be really important at different points of flowering. Eg calcium, magnesium etc at differing levels.

Thats what I've come across lately too Frank. It seems the micro nutrients have been studied a little further and may contribute more than first thought which is how I came across that post I linked.

Not a necessity to grow bud or even good bud of course , but personally I would never choose not to use PK boosters. Canna PK is what I use , but any pk booster will do. The analogy Is like having a house , four walls and a roof , it’s a house , get some paint and paint it and it’s a much much better house.
