0 merl1n
…. can’t believe she was an ex stoner and didn’t consider canna before opiates. Hey ooodog,When we have pain, who do we go see? The doctor. And what are the first line pain meds? Opiates, not cannaEven after years of managing intractable pain, canna was the last thing on any dr's list of possible treatments. So I can understand why opiates were recommended. 0 merl1n
It's not that I agree with it ooodog, it's the reality/joy of having to rely on dr's. They love their chemicals/drugs and that script pad.I've been trying for years for some sort of approval to use canna medically, but all they'd offer was opiates by the boxful. Hell, I'm getting 10 boxes of opiates at a time.It has only been relatively recently that I've received approval for medical canna via a specialised clinic. My GP had no clue how to access it. I had him complete the required paperwork. About a month later the GP had another patient making enquiries and the GP called me at home wanting to know what to do, how to go about it. So I gave him all of the information, directed him to websites and told him the processes involved. From my experience lots and lots of these Dr's (and specialists too) have got no up to date information on canna. In many cases they still have that 'Evil Weed' mentality and ideology. 0 merl1n
"People are so brain washed by what the government and doctors tell you to do" It's all so tied up in govt red tape. The govt and the AMA hold the keys.It will change, but it will take time, more time. These trials they are running now are slow and expensive. The information is already available, so these trials are a waste of time. They need to put it on the PBS and make it accessible. Merl1n
0 MongyMan
"These trials" have ZERO to do with cannabis research. They are JUST trials of specific pharmaceutical products to get them to market and the results from them have ZERO relevance to anything other than the specific product they are researching. They are harmful not helpful to any future cannabis law reform. THEY ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM NOT THE SOLUTION.. Supporting such trials ONLY helps and promotes pharmaceutical cannabis nothing more.

0 merl1n
Having been down the addiction route myself, let's just say I have some 'extensive' experience. There are 2 types of addiction, a physical addiction and a psychological addiction. With a physical addiction your body goes through a physical withdrawal when the substances is stopped. Some people get the sweats, some get the shakes, some get angry, some get morose etc, etc. For some people this withdrawal can be a physical torment. In real basic terms our body's scream out for more of the substance. With a psychological addiction, it's our minds that are screaming out for the substance. There maybe physical attributes to it, but primarily it's a mental thing. We can become psychologically addicted to anything, not just a drug. Pokie machines are a prime example of a non-drug psychological addiction. With canna the addiction is a psychological one, not physical, unlike powders which can have a powerful physical addiction. Trying to compare a canna addiction to powders addiction is impossible as they are two different sides of the same coin and yet many try to draw a straight line between them both (usually those who have a book knowledge rather than experience). So when people make statements like "..So you'd better substitute something for marijuana..." I ask the question 'Like what? Swapping canna for a pharma opiate?' In addiction terms they call that 'Swapping the witch for the bitch'. Personally I choose the lesser of the 2 evils, canna. Merl1n
