Those soil probe pH testers are junk.

I bought like 6 of those fuckin things and every one of them read different to the other in the same pot of dirt.

 

This is a long thread so I apologise if this is already mentioned.

Get a digital pH test pen. Mix your nutes then adjust the pH to desired amount.

Ps. Relax enjoy the learning curve nobody gets it perfect first shot.

Yeah. My probe gave a pH reading between 4.0 to 8.0 in the same pot, a few minutes apart. For soil I found the manual pH test kit adequate for around $15. Bit fiddly, but only need to test infrequently, and if you notice any problems. I've only tested my soil 3 or 4 times in five months.
