advice wanted on using colloidal silver to reverse sex

Recommended Posts

Hi flamstaa

Thanks for helpful info, much appreciated :)

I'm not a big breeder and usually only breed regs.

I'm also an outdoor grower and I got all girls this season and bereft of a male to pollinate hence resorting to cs to get some seeds and preserve the strain

I've started spraying the branch few days ago and hope it works.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas :)

No worries Sugar

Having seen the image of your treated plants I suspect is a better way to go than SC

It's just over 3 weeks spraying with CS and the poor branch looks half dead. Is this how they normally look after 3 weeks spraying CS?

But I have some great news, the other Chem91 Skunk VA x Code Blue 2 I thought was female is a male!!

So, now I have my breeding male to cross with the Biancas and F1 with the other 2 Chem girls I'm laughing as it's regs I prefer.

I'm going to stop spraying C1 branch now with the CS and chop that branch and the one below it that copped the drips of CS.

I used to get some deformity like that but never as severe. Maybe your SC was more concerntrated than mine?

What is your aim in reversing a branch? Would it not be easier to use a clone and cheaper to make some silver thiosulfate?

Results using STS more predictable. You can even mix silver nitrate in freshly manufactured CS as the nitrate binds to the CS and is transported. Or you can bind it to sodium thiosulfate, whatever the transporter, the mode of action is always the same. You don't even need exact ratios when making your own STS.

Once transported silver nitrate acts as an antagonist blocking ethylene pathways resulting in the formation of xx chromosome pollen. They look well different to males or hermi. Best STS doesn't need be applied for weeks on end.

Just a few thoughts from some random bloke.

Hi all,, I'm wondering if I have successfully collected pollen, at what stage into the female flowering do I brush the pollen onto the female flower,, i e,, about how many weeks from flip is it best to apply the pollen

Dont count from flip...best counting from when it starts to bud .OR about six weeks before harvest coz that’s about how long they’ll take to form,

at about three weeks you’ve got enough bud to pollinate and get plenty of seed,,,you can do it earlier but the buds won’t be as big ,,,meaning lower numbers of seed ,,Leave it about six weeks for the seeds to form ,,that puts you at nine weeks of flowering , if it’s a ten ,,eleven or longer weeks strain then leave it till the buds are ready for harvest,,,

more than one way of doing it but that’s what works good for me.
