Cheaper alternative to bottled PK

Recommended Posts

I try so hard to keep away from all the gimmicks when it comes to nutes.None the less im in my 50s and when i started probably tried most the more ridiculous nutes.Organics is of course the best(whether or not you agree).Get onto a good brand use their veg and bloom but please lash out on youre pk cause it is no gimmick as we know from the very basics of growing(nitrogen veg   pk bloom).I am sure there are some wonderful additives i have not tried but i get a above average yield(sorry my opinion)I have alwyays wanted to try canna boost but no matter how i look at it the price is ridiculous and i never find myself reading about the wonders of  a very over priced product(Apart from canna talking it up)So i allways recomend starting with the basics and once you have down pat start experimenting. If you ever use canna bloom let me know if there was a difference.Same for anyone reading this post.Oh yeah I am not trashing canna they have great nutes.Just using their long list of additives as an example.Would love to sit here and write a full page on nutrients but I think my long winded stoned ramblings has bored you already. Also i have not discussed long list in a good two part veg or bloom of all other nutes making the whole.

if your looking at the basic's the site sponsor does have a bag to suit pk (MONO POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE) at fair prices, would be great if they had npk ratio for the nute bag along with a stock of magnesium nitrate for a calimag alternative to go with the calcium nitrate that is in stock
if your after an aussie brand there is autopot a+b dry hydro nute, just not sure if the npk would suit cannabis 100% and you would have to add cal/mag if in coco

professors nutrients extreme boost - 0-54-32

mix this 1/4 strength and it would be around canna pk13/14 strength
comes in super cheap
it's probably just Monopotassium phosphate as its listed at 0-52-34 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopotassium_phosphate

i was at bunnings today and noticed a bunch of liquid and soluable potash, which has very similar npk's

the K is about 1/2 of the professors

right now ive been flying heaps helping both our families move because of the fires and dont have extra money to spend :(

My question is, would this be ok to run in a hydro system using clay ballz?

I wouldn't personally use it as the sole potassium hit, has no phosphorus as well. Although I have being doing a bit of reading into sulphate of potash used to strengthen terpene profiles in plants and sometimes change them (berry smell change into more citrus smell etc), the sulphur doing the trick afaik.

pretty good value for a brand product, seems to make 1000L from 500g at $40, would make 4000l going by the 1/4 strength for canna pk13/14  equivalent which i figure would really give a - 0-13.5-8 P/K ratio

The extra P won't cause issues, but it won't necessarily have the same results as the ratio of K. I looked at there recommended usage time for the powder seems last few weeks of flowering just like other pk additives, I would assume it works very similarly, but i haven't used high ratios of phosphorus that late into flower personally.
