How do I know if my hps is on the blink

Thought I'd share this little bit of information

if your light looks like the first pic it's probably on the way out or gone

The 2nd pic is a used light that is still ok

The first pic has a black residue about 1 inch up from end nearest the bulb ,it switches on and off When it gets hot

Look out for this ,could solve a issue b4 it becomes a disaster

Trust me ,it hurt my last grow

Or it is close to failing

Probably the globe, but I'd put the other one in and see what happens

 

got a pic of the screw in end of it, were it joins the glass

Rule off thumb what I was taught u get 3 grows out of a hps globe then swap to new one always keep your spares. Also don't ever touch the globe with your bare hands we have oils on our skin that transfer on to the glass can create a heat spot in the glass and bang.
