CFL to HPS

Alright peeps...... when to switch from 135w cfl to 600w hps?? There autos, so in my mind I want as much light as I can possibly give to get the most out of an auto, without cooking them. There now about day 8 and honestly I reackon there moving pretty slow, not something I want for an auto. I’m keen to make the switch now but any tips from more experienced growers will be appreciated

Yeah iv read people run it from start, I thought running 600 from start cause of heat output I would of had to have the thing as high as I could which then would of caused to much stretch on the seedlings. Noob thinking maybe

If you're worried about stretch, maybe get a MH (not mars hydro, metal halide... ) and use it for the first few weeks. If your ballast can take 400s get a 400mh maybe?

Drop it to 12" for a few hours and see what the seedlings reckon. The heats fine, a bit dry perhaps, low hung lights heat the medium a little also. I got mine sitting at 15".

Hps is now in, heater now turned off and used just as fan hahaha intake fan on, and out put fan turned up 30% just to get a stable temp at around 24.5c....damn these hps put out some heat!

definately fuck off the CFL, poxy lights at best.

Now now children no need for name calling

 

Decent CFL's are excellent for vegging, those 80w Phillips CFL's are really good and not to be underestimated.
