A couple of months ago I asked my GP about obtaining cannabis to treat my ongoing symptoms.

"Ohh ahhh, I don't know anything about the processes, I wouldn't know where to start..."

Being that I'm in SA and there being no clinic's here (our state Gov't (Liberal) still have their heads buried firmly up their own arses)  I thought the whole process would be a waste of time

I went investigating and found a clinic in NSW, who would go through the whole process online.

 

So after a couple of weeks of paperwork both from myself and my GP, today I got the call from the clinic and have had the initial approval.

I now have to obtain the approval from the TGA but from what I've been told this should not be a problem and should take less than a week.

The Dr I spoke to has told me that what he would be prescribing is a CBD and THC combination as my situation is pain related.

I asked the Dr about the cost of the medication itself as it is NOT on the PBS and I have to say it is NOT cheap.

The Dr himself would not actually tell me a defined cost but advised me to call the chemist in Victoria.

Upon doing so I was told $270/50ml + postage ($30), so $300 delivered. First thought "Fuck, it'd be cheaper to go buy an ounce" but have decided to follow through with the process.

 

At this point I have not been told of the recommended dosages, so how long that 50ml is going to last I am unsure.

I am also unsure if I may be able to get my local chemist to get it in for me or whether it needs to come from an approved compounding chemist, solely in Victoria.

 

So the processes have been started. The dr and the prepaid TGA approvals have cost me $550 so far (that's without the script itself), so let's see how much more it's gonna cost

When I have any further info I will let you all know.

Yea, it sounds encouraging BUT we're all well aware the pace of govt policy on the subject of canna is not exactly rapid.

In saying that, CBD oil is a start. It's sure to be a digestible oil, rather than a smoking oil (Some teeny is sure to try it out tho, at least once    lol ) 

Let's see if the momentum stalls with CBD.

 

EDIT: I've just spoken to my local pharmacist about it as she tells me I'm due for another medical review of my opiate use, just routine. She told me she actually has to go and have further training prior to being allowed to stock medicinal cannabis and presently has no plans of undertaking such training, which is fine by me. I have another pharmacy filling the prescription. But I thought the training for opiates and other S8 meds, which she does stock, would cover it all. Obviously not. Seems canna is just such a dangerous substance that pharmacists need specific training      WTF. Don't we just LOVE govt policy?? NOT.

Fucking ridiculous isn't it. I bet anyone of us could have fentanyl in our hands within a week. No massive profits for big pharma or kickbacks for crooked docs when they prescribe Canna though. And it's non addictive which means unlike opiods you can regulate your doses without building a habit.

Already got it, but ohh yuck, I like to try and function somewhat. That shit just fucks me up. No function, no drive, no nothing. Sure it kills the pain real well, just damn near kills me in the process too.

But your damn right about the addiction side of it.

Ohh, yes there is. HUGE profits for the bastards. This 'Prescribed' product is VERY EXPENSIVE, someone's making a HUGE profit from it.

There is no way known it costs to produce what they charge. I received a new batch (2 containers, 5gms each) earlier today cost $223 +20 delivery, so that works out at around $700/oz. Previously it was higher at around $1000/oz.    

Anybody else getting $700/oz  ?????

Yeah they ripping us off as they always do.

 

I hear that companies like coke and monsato are ready to setup massive Canna production in the states. As soon as it legalised federally in the states the legal industry will be fucked. And the cops (aka private corporate enforcers) will start hunting down us small growers because we are threatening the profits of the elite

Yea, well, that's been the argument for a while now. Big corporate canna has been ready for years be that pharma or mega companies like Coke and Monsanto. But I think the multinationals are waiting for the UN to change their view/ policy. If there's a $$$ to be made you'll be sure to see the big boys.

It will be interesting to see how govt's of all persuasions handle the canna issue with the corporate world. It would be nice if, for a change, they'd lock the big boys out and leave it for us, but unlikely

What an arrogant statement to make Pedro. Only someone who has NEVER had to deal with constant, uncontrolled, nauseating pain could say such a thing. Unbelievable 

Pain maybe a rush for an hr if you're lucky, but when it's a constant, persistent, mind bending pain it gets real old, real quick

I'll give you this pain Pedro any day of the week you want and we'll see how you manage. I'll tell ya Pedro it ain't no walk in the park.
