Help needed with grow tent

Recommended Posts

Hi Cab00se:)

Extractor fans serve two purposes and sometimes the different functions don't always match - control air temperature by removing hot air and replacing it with cool and also control odour. The more control you have over it, the easier it work things work together.

At the early stages - about 3-4 weeks from when the seeds pop, you don't need an extractor fan on all the time - this time can even go up to 4-5 weeks, depending on how deliciously smelly your strain is. As soon as you can just smell your ladies from outside the tent, you will definitely need to use the extractor fan all the time.

It's amazing how quick a tent can get hot though, even with your temps. Best way is to have your fan running 15min on and 15min off, if your timer will allow it - that way there shouldn't be too much heat buildup. Just keep an eye on it for a day or so and see how this works with your temps. It's easier with the sms controller, as it will only come on when your temp reaches a set temperature.

You don't need an intake fan for your setup ... just use passive intake. If you're not sure how this works ... a simple guide is to look at your tent and see if the sides are being pulled in a little. If so, it means that smell will not escape and that you have a good level of intake - this is where a fan controller works very well and makes your life easier ... especially when first starting to grow. I reckon it is much better to invest in a good fan controller than an intake fan. It also means you have a bit more room to fine tune your setup regarding your duct situation. The more bends and length means the lower noise, but reduced amount of air extraction. For your fan, you can use this nifty page to show how much air is extracted for different power levels: https://www.ruck.eu/ventilatoren/rohrventilatoren1/rohrventilatoren-ac-motor/rs/rs-100?productFrequency=50&filterFrequency=50&filterErP=conform

hope it helps ... just fire away if you have any questions - there are heaps of cluey maguyers on the board that have heaps of experience. It's always good to see how a couple of different growers do things, especially the ones that use the same grow medium as you.

nearly forgot ... don't worry about winter temps ... you can always extract air into your grow area like the canadians do - they don't worry about venting outside in -30 ... they just recirculate the air.:)
