Drug accused in with bombers

By Sian Powell in Kuta, Bali

November 16, 2004

THE 27-year-old Australian beauty school student awaiting trial for allegedly smuggling 4.1kg of marijuana into Indonesia now shares a prison with notorious Bali bombers Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra.

Schapelle Corby has been moved to Kerobokan prison, the long-term home to 23 Bali bombers, including the core operatives, all three of whom have been sentenced to death for the 2002 blasts, which killed 202 people including 88 Australians. It is believed the unrepentant trio is kept in solitary confinement.

Ms Corby, who was arrested at Bali's Ngurah Rai airport early last month when she flew in from Brisbane, was transferred to Kerobokan prison from her cell at Bali police headquarters. Although the Gold Coast student has repeatedly proclaimed her innocence, police have recommended charges that carry the maximum penalty of death.

I have to say, i am inclined to believe her when she says she didn't put it there.

Bali doesn't need ganja imports and the little guy on the bike saying, "dacca dacca" asking if you want to buy it and then taking off and telling the cops who he sold it to for a reward is a scam that has been going on for years.

To be honest, it makes me think that terrorist mob has sympathisers in the military, police and airport security, or maybe one of the baggage handlers at the airport. It's already been said, her bags went through Australian security, i think they would catch it before a 2 bit country like Bali.

Wake up Bali, do you want to be known as terrorsit sympathisers?

I also believe her and if Bali dose find her guilty then I certainly wont have much time for bali in my heart. and wont be takling any of my money there ever again.

Sure enough if she failed the tests etc but she has proven through tests etc that she doesnt use.

She also knew what would happen to her if she did get caught doing this.

I saw a doco on her the other night and everyone in Bali is blaming the mafia. so why cant these fools see that it was a setup etc.

Bali also should NOT be allowed to get away with treating Australians like that.

we all know how Bali runs on Australia $$.

In my heart I reakon its all a scam and a setup.

Yeah, the problem I have with the whole thing is, theyre already seeking the death penalty and the case hasnt gone to trial yet. In Indonesia the death penalty is sought rarely and generally when the government wants to make a show as in the case of the Bali bombers. It is more normal for life imprisonment to be the case. A life sentence in an Indo prison means life and a short one at that. Sounds like a case of " We will give you a fair trial, then we are going to execute you"

If our government lets them get away with this blatantly political set up then theyre gutless bastards.

I too question why you would IMPORT ganga into indonesia... unless you were a really, really hardcore pothead and couldn't do without a perso smoke.

The kid is innocent, anyone can see that, it's a political game being played by the military, Indonesian and Australian government and is likely targeted at demonising pot smokers/importers/traffickers.

Ramble ramble.... Bastards. RISE UP!

Anyone want to pass around a hat and put a few bucks from Oz Stoners towards her legal fees if that's possible to do? Dunno if we'd rather do it anonymously or not, but I think it's something like that we need to fight. B)

That sounds like a noble thing Luke, but i don't know if our support would be the best thing for her. An anonymous donation would be a good idea.

There is also the possibility that her lawyer is probably court appointed, i have seen footage of her lawyer and she is Balinese.

If anyone knows anything about her defence i am willing to kick in.

I am going to hit google and find out what i can.

its a shame this has all happened. bali rocks i love that place but am slowly losing all faith in the land of holidays, the system is warped...when ever i travel i make sure i paddlock every zipper possible so no one can do something like this, simple precations i think most people do for this reason. i guess she wouldnt have thought anything bout her board bag or someone putting something in it on a trip to bali. B) because anyone who has even thought of going to bali and is a chronic smoker knows theres no way in hell its worth risking taking the tinyiest bit of weed over with them...for the simple fact there laws are very harsch especially on drugs, i beleive she was set-up more then likely, or very dumb, she doesnt look extremely dumb tho, her head is screwed on right she passed the blood test,

B) Set-up for sure. Let's look at the paticulars here shall we?

1. Found was 4.2kg of marijuana in a transparent plastic bag, put inside a boogie board cover

2.The MJ found had an approximate street level of $80 000 AUD

3.Schapelle Corby tested negative for drugs in both her urine and blood tests. Not a trace was found.

So, here we have a young lady who doesn't smoke, personal stash is out. So c'mon-Who the fuck is going to risk the death penalty for 80 grands worth of stash?? No-one in their right mind. And I tell ya, the girl looks pretty sane to me.

There's also the fact that they're screaming for the death penalty for her, when the case hasn't even gone to trial?? Why?
