Hi all new here and keen to grow my first plant.

Recommended Posts

So after discovering this awesome site and the wealth of information, ive decided to have a crack at growing an outdoor plant in a pot.

I have been a daily smoker for over 25 years but haven't grown anything before, so this community is a godsend.

Unfortunately im renting atm so I have inspections every 6 months or so.

Planning to start after next inspection, hopefully in October.

I have ordered some Amnesia Fast fems from seedsman and did a trip to bunnos yesterday and grabbed some supplies.

Am I on the right track?

Bit confused with the type of pot to use

Should I go for a fabric geopot or just a plastic one?

I bought some jiffy peat pellets and was thinking of sowing into these?

Or would I be better off using paper towel method and planting straight into its final pot?

Im in Melbourne.

Any input/advise would be much appreciated.

Cheers all.

best of luck.

germination is just a matter of choice.  main thing to make sure is its a nice warm spot, near your hot water system or beside the fridge, etc.

Sounds like you may need to move the pots on ocassion so just use a plastic one.  those geo fabric pots get out of shape and are a pain to move without disturbing the root mass.... particularly if it is a reasonable size plant.

Sounds good

I would have went somwhere5elso to get my soul though.

It's gonna save u rippingvit out of that stuff n into something good

Bad start not the best idea

If u want to go organic go to your local nursery, get a living soil, top dress it with worm castings

This way u will only have to water for the whole grow

It will also save u the hassles newbies get with their first grow

When u have learnt a bit more n have more time to prepare your soil (6 months minimum) have a crack at making your own

Use that stuff u got to start a compost heap for next yr

I know they the manure is ready to go but I'm not so sure so time to break down a bit more would be a good idea

Your medium is the most important thing u need to get right straight away

Thanks for the reply micmac.

I would rather go organic if possible.

I will make a trip to my local nursery and have a look.

I bought some tomato seeds to play with so I might dig some holes and throw the bunnings stuff in for them.

Cheers.

I get 100% 99% of the time by simply dropping them into rock wool jiffy pot or even heaven forbid straight into the soil

I don't know why some many ppl go to such lenghts( unless u lived in Mexico or Tasmania )

When it is The easiest thing in the world

Moisture warmth n humidity no light needed till they pop up

Just be sure u plant the seed right way up

Way too much Google going on here ATM

KISS KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID U N CAN'T GO WRONG

If u want to waste time n money on complicated n unnecessary gear go ahead

Maybe a bottle cut off for protection outside if required
