I generally make a rough kinda dome out of chook wire maybe bouts foot high to cover seedlings till they establish a resonable hight and fill 3lt milk bottles of piss and leave around plants with no lid on bottles and it also helps pouring it on ground around the plot.

Not really a dripper system just little sprinkler thingies, pipe joins up to hose at house so just turn tap on, beats lugging water up hill all the time and wifie can water for me when I'm away at work

Found some kind of animal repellant at my nursery today. I've gone with a bunch of cut up coat hanger wire and some guttering protectors. Those mesh plastic things that stop leaves getting in your guttering. Cut into 4-50 cm sections. Threaded with wire, wire bent to hold the plastic. Place collars around seedlings.
