My first grow! 1 week in!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I’m currently attempting my first grow and super stoked to be getting underway.

I’m just over 1 week into my grow and so far so good. If you have any suggestions or advice to give please just shout as I’m all ears! I’ve attached pictures to this thread.

I bought 15 Autoflower feminised seeds(Amnesia Haze, Northern Lights & Blueberry) I chose to plant just 5 as a start. All 5 seeds popped a tap root. 4 have sprouted in peat pots with 1 amenesia catching up slowly hopefully. Soil/medium is a mixture of a local compost/volcanic mix I bought off a guy who specialises in developing organic soiks, with that I added vermiculite and perlite.

Up until now I’ve just kept them watered and relying on the compost mix soil to give a start to the seedlings.

At which stage would you recommend I start feeding them nutrients? I have a 500g tub of Kelp powder. Would this be sufficient for initial seedling to veg transition? I’m thinking of buying the General Hydroponics Flora Series. Have you had any experience with these?

I’m thinking of up sizing to 3 litre fabric pots in week 2 and then 39ltre fabrics pots.

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated to you kind experienced growers.

Thanks.

hi yoko, welcome to the site, if your organic mix is good qaulity and already has plenty of good stuff in it and is nutrient rich then you may not need to feed it anything, its hard to say without looking at your plant(pics help), but if it looks healthy i would just leave it alone and continue to just give it water, the plant will tell you when its hungry,, good luck with your grow,,the k.i.s.s method is often the best method(k.i.s.s,keep it simple stupid)

I agree with GQ, if your using organic soil then it is not worth it if you end up using bottles. You will end up just killing the microbial life within the soil. Just plain water, kelp and some Neem should be all you need for a while. Also don’t overwater that is very common with new grows

Also welcome and good luck [emoji1365]

Hi all,

Thanks for your great responses so far. Apologies for not attaching pics in my first post, I’ve only just worked out

how to use upload using the Full Version! Such a noob.

5 pics attached show how my 5 plants are doing as at Thursday 9th Aug.... The 4th (BBY 2) has started to show leaves in the last 24hrs! AMH 2 seems to have a lot of catching up to say as it’s still not broken the surface.

Yes I’m going full outdoors with all me grows. The seedlings at this stage are getting decent direct morning sunshine from sunrise to middayish? I’m finding these bio degradable pots to dry out very fast! I’m worried I might overwater at times to compensate this?! I’m thinking of going to 3l fabrics then 39ltrs when they are ready?

I’m also going for stealth grow in a a Forrest as the neighbours can’t be trusted on this occasion!

Watering with regular tap water at the moment!

Let me know what you think! What a gorgeous looking plant this is... and I’m only at seedling stage haha.

Thanks

Yoko

Hey Yoko, ya Beatles splitting mother fucker welcome to OS. Subbing up to see how ya go! Good luck. Hate to be the one to say it, but you may regret choosing autos for your first time. Plenty of helping hands here if you keep updating ya thread and take in everyone's advice though [emoji106]

Hi yoko. You will be fine. I started where you were almost a year ago. A lot to learn. Seedlings need moist humid environments but please, don’t drench the little girls. Don’t be sucked into these water schedules. As the plants get bigger, get yourself a cheap water meter probe at Bunnings if you are unsure. Some top people on here who are very experienced. Take in their advice and you will be ok. Don’t worry too much if a lot doesn’t make sense. All I can offer here is it will start to make sense as time goes along. Welcome and good luck.

Autos will be ok but what tunks is probably referring to is they can be fussy fuckers when you haven’t grown before. There really are a lot of variables.
