Newbie with around 750 dollar lighting budget

I agree with the guys... hps with a digital ballast is the best/cheapest setup for a novice grower... cant stress digital ballast enough though. The older style magnectic ballasts literally eat power [emoji23][emoji23]

nanolux are a great brand, cheap reliable and come with a 3 yr warrnty. A 600w you could get away with an open reflector, but if you went with a 1000w id get an xl cool hood and fans for it to.

Yeah 600w is what I've always run in a 1.2 m tent but have noticed the spread of light gets pretty weak towards the edges

Figured it is my reflector that is the main problem but still think 1000w would do a better good with coverage

Edit: I've been rotating my plants a quarter turn every day to help with even growth

It's also about how far it can penetrate the canopy ... a 1000w would be better than a 600w ...

Thing is, bakedcake. Apparently a 600w produces close to double lumen output to what a 400w does. So a 600w turns out to be more economical. Though I'd imagine twin 400w's would help with better coverage, but lack in intensity I would imagine.

Ahhh true that. I just always remember this Jorge Cervantes book I had when I was younger talking if you can go a size down and double it, I guess better for spread though with having the two units. Well go with the rest of the team mate 600w majority it looks to be

all I can add is don't even think of going with 400w+ HPS unless you have good A/C with summer coming, I mean its definitely doable, but a major pain in the ass. Been there and done it multiple times, just don't.....

You can have the most efficient ventilation system on earth, but ambient temp is king and unless you have it in the proper range plants will stall. Judging by our last two summers, if I was you I would be thinking about what is going to suit your environment best in summer.
