LED VS HID?

Recommended Posts

Ok, what are your opinions?

With us fast approaching 2020 and the price of LED's dropping proportionately, is it even worth investing in a HID lamp?

I've been doing a little reading a few calculations and I would say it depends.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers,

Pip.

Yeah ebay is doing some ripper deals on LED's. Infact you can pick up a LED lamp off Ebay for about as much as a HID Kit.

Heat is a mitigating factor though, these LED's don't emit as much heat as a HID lamp and with Winter fast approaching it is starting to get cold, really cold...

It would seam;  Summer: LED  ;  Winter: HID

However, you could always purchase a grow room heater (Ebay does em cheap) and just stick to LED.

LED for the win.

  • LED grow lights last six times as long!
  • Eco-friendly LED grow lighting uses no toxic metals.
  • Energy savings range from 50%-70% over HID lights.
  • No cooling necessary; no plant burn and decreased risk of fires.
  • LED directional lighting requires no reflectors.
  • Maximum chlorophyll absorption and flower production.
  • Less frequent watering.
  • Discretion assured — no thermal footprint.

Bigger yields, longer life, heat efficiency, easy to use, adjustable spectrum of colours, energy saving...

The Verdict....

LED
