THE expression ``as crazy as two waltzing mice'' found new meaning when a regiment of rodents broke into a police lockup and began feasting on half a tonne of marijuana.

 

Police in the southern Egyptian town of Qena were planning to burn the large stash of cannabis.

When they entered a storage room they found the mice had beaten them there and already eaten a good deal.

 

``A large number of mice were dizzy,'' a police official said, because they had nibbled a lot of ``bango'', as the illegal crop is known in Egypt.
