doctor_nelson
Can anyone confirm that male flowers smell like female flowers from the same strain? Long story short, I cut some clones that I plan to convert into males with silver thiocyanate from four favourite mother strains. Unfortunately I have reason to suspect that I mixed up the clone labels - one of the perils of gardening after sampling some of the last harvest I want to make specific crosses so I need to be quite sure which female each of the males came from - I may need to leave an untreated branch on each of the males so I can get the smell of the female flowers. Suggestions welcomed...

doctor_nelson
Good luck, can’t u tell when they start bud which 1 it is? Yes, the female flowers of each of the four mothers are easily distinguishable, but I need to know whether the male flowers from a female converted using silver will smell the same. I think I'll just leave a small branch untreated on each of the "males" I make so I can smell that female flower smell to identify the male pollen source - seeds from those female flowers will be self fertilised so I'll toss them for fear of recessive traits in the seedlings - but at least I'll know which female to hit with each of the different female pollens I collect to avoid crossing a female with her own pollen.
