We've had some pretty inconsistent weather so may be a cause. Dunno, is what it is I guess. The plant might be genetically more susceptible to stress if it’s not a strain that can handle certain outdoor climates. Are you in the north or south? That plant looks like it has another 7-9 weeks left and if it is already throwing balls then it will be absolutely jam packed full of seeds come harvest.
