Autoflowering seeds Q/A

Hey guys 'cliche post' newbie to the whole grow your own thing. But I just wanted to know if anyone's had good experiences with auto flowering strains? I want to grow my own and everything I've seen makes them seem like the optimum seeds to buy for newbies. Thoughts, tips or experiences would be most welcome. Not sure if i should grow the plant indoors or outside either. Have the space for both.

What exactly have you read to make you think they are optimum for new growers ?

I've grown both. I'd prefer regular feminised. You can totally screw up veg with regulars them get it right again before flower. So I reckon regular are more forgiving. Stuff up an auto and you don't have time to recover as you don't choose when they flower. With regular feminised, wait 2 more months, do some topping or fimming and your yield will be much greater.

In terms of electricity, haven't done the maths but I think photos give you better yield for total energy used. I only grow indoor, can do it all year round.

Or give both a go. Get some autos in on a 18/6 light schedule and one month in put some regular feminised in for Veg. Once the autos are done switch to 12/12 to flower the regular feminised.

Good point, bill. I'd suggest to go with regular photoperiod strains so newbie can get a better understanding of the characteristics to how unadulterated Cannabis plants grow.

 

But hey, opinions vary from one generation to the other. Different strokes for different folks..

I’ve never grown an auto. I will one day for shits and giggles. But I stuff my photos up enough that I don’t need the added stress of the autos yet

Autos are a pain the ass, they don't like any stress at all. 1 small mistake and it will certainly fuck your yield.

outside auto, 22 of April last year, never got more than 12/13 hours of light, the wrong way to grow them apparently

didn't know any better then, cant see any good reason to run them inside with 18/24 hour of light, not that i'll ever bother growing one again
