HELP please first time grower

G'day all first time poster new to the site.  I've been given  3 sativa clones from a friend and I've dug a hole and planted them in the same soil mix that they were potted in and they were doing fine for a week, went down to water them, two were wilted and checked them and they came out in my hand from about an inch below the surface, they didn't look rotted, looked like they had been chewed.  went down two days later and the same thing happened to the last one, any ideas on what type of bug might have eaten them and how to stop it. Preferably with no nasty chemicals .  Area in question Central Queensland coastal, hope someone can help please.

Hi thedog, welcome to the site, what your describing sounds like curl grubs, the larvae and adult grubs feast on the roots and make there way into the stems and branches eventually killing your plant, if you still have the dead plant cut the stems and branches down the middle and have a look the grubs are probably still in there and you could i d them for sure that way, sorry im not exactly sure what the best way to control curl grubs are because ive never had much of an issue with them but a quick google should sort you out, good luck sorting the issue out,cheers thedoog,,,GQ

Thank you greenqueen2 for your input, much appreciated.  Went back to where the plants were planted and dug out the soil and found all three holes were full of termites, so guess they might have done the damage.  I've been reading posts going back to 2008 and found that termites can be a pain in the butt as someone back then had a similar problem and another post said for them to try a product called Dipel, which is an organic insecticide, so I'll be looking into it and hope it will help.

Could be termites thedog, ive been lucky in that area theyve always left my plants alone but i have stories from other growers having problems with them so could certainly be the culprits, good luck with it all thedog and dont forget to come back and give us a report about how it all works out,cheers mate

It's not white ants is it? , had that b4 , bastards make nest in amongst root systems and the plants fall over n die , they just move on after there've decimated the whole plot

Never really found a solution other than to keep moving till they didn't appear, pain the arse but usually the whole area is affected

I learnt to check around plots for natives that had fallen or were really easy to pull out , an indication that they there or have been there b4

Termites are abundant around here but they build there own mounds , never seen them in or around plants or house though
