Khat could aid fertility

Recommended Posts

UK researchers believe the plants stimulant, Cathinone, is broken down to form phenylpropanolamines (thats easy for them to say!) or PPA's, which enable sperm to mature & remain in peak condition for longer. They are researching PPA drugs to one day aid couples struggling to concieve.

I'd better not let the wife know about that as she wants me to get me tubes cut anyway! (ouch I'm cringin just thinkin about it!!!)

On a seperate issue I have 2 khat plants - one is a lighter green compared to the other & has ball shaped flowers on it & the other is a much darker green. Are these 2 different types of khat plant or just male & female plants or maybe both different types & sexes? Do both male & female khat plants have the desired affect? I will try & attach some pics soon.

sorry I can;t help more with the colour question but it is doubtfull that it has to do with the sex of the plant imo it would be more to do wit the plants health, it havign a slight different condition than the other or mabey the plants just have differnt colour because of parentage and each of your plants is espressing one of the parents genotypes that make up the colour or they are expressing a mix of the two

think of it this way , if you have a brother or sister they are not going to nesserceraly be a duplicate of you and even if they are an identical twin then there are generally other differences like personality or one may be stronger than the other

The species Catha edulis has many variants. There are some with green and narrow shaped leaves. Others, green and more round leaves, and ones with red leaves. And everything in between. I have several so red, they are more purple/brown, and some so light green, almost white.

It is difficult to ascertain whether a certain variant, or individual for that matter, is 'active' ie having enough cathine/cathinone, without chewing a considerable quantity of it, to bioassay for its effects.
