Plant out growing it's protective greenhouse, need help!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I planted seeds on about cup day in Melbourne (November 6th). The strain is seedsman CBD hash fem seeds, which is meant to be a almost 100% indica & fairly short/stout plant.

Recently I have been unable to tend for my plants for almost 2 weeks after going on holiday and I've come back to the plants growing quite drastically in size.

First thing to mention, I haven't done any type of Fimming, topping, training etc. and they are almost outgrowing the coldframe/green house they are hidden in (and I'll note it's crucial that the plants stay in here for security reasons.. neighbors etc). The plants currently take up aprox 60% of the cold frame/greenhouse height.

I'm wondering what are my options at this stage?

From my research, Melbournes light cycle means plants start flowering around February? And it is not uncommon for plants to double in size during this time period so If that's to happen my enclosure will be to small to contain it.

1) Should I FIM or Top cut the top branch as seen in this pic? Will that help in moving the plant from a Christmas tree shape or is it to late? Has the plant matured for too long in this growth pattern?

2) Could I start zip tying the main branch sort of diagonally to the cold frame/green house to prevent it from continuing growing up? Or to tie it to a plant trainer such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/whites-75cm-black-cone-plant-trainer_p3321107
3) What affect would it have on the plant if I was to cut 1/3rd of the plant off?

4) Looking at the pics can I tell with certainty yet that the plants are female?

5) Would it be a good idea to get a shade cloth and force flower the plants by keeping them covered for 12 hours?

And yes I'm aware the plants are being eaten, I'm back now so I'm going to start dealing with it. The shriveled leaves I believe are from the 42 degree day we had in Melbourne, I think they just got scorched.

Any ideas on what I should do from here would be greatly appreciated as I feel a bit lost as to what I'm to do from here.

Google .LST and supercropping . If you can get them bent right over you'll prob be fine .

You could top or fim them but might still have to bend them later anyway .

Prob a combination of all wouldn't hurt but if your going to top them you'd be best getting that done sooner than later.

Goodluck.

This strain has a very early flower trigger and finishes fast. I'm growing the same strain atm. I'd top the tall one and leave the other.

Mines been up for ages, enough to get a small first harvest in and now she's about to flower set again very soon.

Once the stems harden to set flower this strain won't stretch much at all. Just what ive noticed anyways.
