Cane toads?

Recommended Posts

Cane toads do not destroy plants.

This is true, though they can be bastards for jumping up into pots and burrowing themselves into the top of the soil/potting mix to keep cool or hydrated during the day.

Around here they're notorious for it, to the point I usually won't water the plants around here 'til late afternoon. Even tried placing gravel on top of the pots, but the big buggers even burrow through that.

I am not sure if it is actually dmt. But yeah they secrete a psychoactive venom. It really will

kill though so most don't try it. They are about the only thing that kills croc's. My dog won't listen to me though, when she plays with a toad she goes nuts.

We don't have the ones that produce DMT here, we have Rhinella marina (previously called bufo marina) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cane_toad. they do produce some very toxic compounds that as you say that can even kill crocs. This includes the tadpoles.

Incilius alvarius, which we dont have in Australia, produce 5-MeO-DMT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_River_toad
