Episode 4 is mind blowing.

 

The Amazonian Indian men who are hunting monkeys is an amazing production. The absolutely fantastical technology which they have developed to get every single monkey down from the canopy of the trees above is breathtaking.

 

They perform prayers using methods including drug intake - it doesn't mention cannabis directly, nor any other drugs but it's clear that the preparation which is intense requires drugs perhaps including cannabis.

 

They prepare the darts with curare applied to the sharpened tips. Before firing the interface between the non poisoned part and poisoned parts of the dart is chewed with another concoction that weakens the dart meaning when the dart embeds in the monkey's flesh it breaks off!!

 

Thus it can't be pulled out by the capable monkeys or dislodged.

 

The monkey poisoned by curare is doomed. And they drop. Drop down to the hunters who have been running at athletically challenging speeds to keep up with the poisoned monkeys.

 

I must get myself some of the plant that produces curare

 

Lots lots more and amazing narration by 1984 actor John Hurt (the voice haunts with Orwellian power) of very pertinent points. How many of us would be able to survive in the jungle like these men.
