Light burn from cfl?

I've seen a bit of leaftip burn and first I thought the light from CFLs had burnt them( I know cfl n lightburn don't really mix) they haven't had any nutes and in perlite vermiculite 3:1 the CFLs weren't close enough to burn them through heat, theyre only 55w CFLs and around 4 inches away. So I raised the cfl to 6-7 inches from plants and they stretched a bit overnight so now what I'm thinking is tap water has poisoned them?? Is that even possible?? Any help or similar experience appreciated. Thanks

What colour r they , and where?

The burn? Its just at the tip of the leaves, as in furthest from the main stem, last 2-4mm

BTW they are barely a week old

Also its brown

Without looking no one would give advice as it be as simple as overwatering if in soil

Yeah I understand nobody can tell me the problem really without seeing them n even then it'd be a guess.

What I wanted to know is has anyone experienced tip burn from straight tap water in a soilless mix

If u are putting tap water it probably has ph higher than 6.5 , if using soilless medium no nutrients can be absorbed then

What Micmac said. And I'm having that issue due to using filtered but not R/O water. It has been a constant throughout my grow. 75% coco and 25% perlite.

It was heaps worse when I was using tap water.

I knew it was wrong to give them tap water but i didn't think it would actually damage them. I flushed with rain water ph6.1 hopefully they'll pick up now

I can show you real light burn from a cfl .. just looks as you would expect burnt leaves to appear. Went to japan for 2 weeks my mate let 1 of my veging plants grow to touch the bulb
