Fungas gnat drenching

Recommended Posts

So im having a battle with some gnats,im in week 2 of flower, in a 70/30 mix of coco/perlite. i seem to have them under control for now as ive used a scarid fly drench twice now with a 7 day intermission. But my question is will i have to keep applying the drench the whole way through my grow? Or will the two applications have wiped them out completely? Ive not noticed any activity from them for at least 6 days now. This is my first encounter with these little fuckers so any advise would be appreciated!!

eggs take 4-6 days to hatch then they live as larvae for 12-14 days. I'm guessing the poison targets the larvae. so you wiped the larvae out then a week later you wiped out any larvae that had hatched from egg since. Assuming no eggs were laid since the first treatment you should have broken the life cycle and cleared the infestation. I'd suggest another poison a week later just to be safe and some sticky traps to catch any adults around

Or diatomaceous earth on top of your soil will shred them up when they try to come out to complete the life cycle

Yes - DE works really well - but AFAIK best when dry - so water through a funnel or something to avoid wetting the surface to keep it lethal.

A drop of dishwashing detergent to any open water containers - waste or nutrient may also help keep adults at bay. Normally, they're so light they can literally walk on water because of surface tension - with less of that, the cocky little fuckers will sink and drown when the try to get a drink. Very satisfying to see dead adults when you toss your waste water.

Awesome guys , thanks for the info both very helpful. I drenched again about 6 days ago sprayed with neem oil as well to get the flying ones... also put out some sticky traps and have not seen any sign of them for 13 -14 days now! my plants went from healthy to almost yellow over night when i first saw them!! I was thinking what the hell, everything is right going in and only a very slight difference coming out, so cant be nutes or ph.... but they have gone a nice dark green again now thank fuck haha. Just finished week 2 of flower c4214da4ce6ba1e43f9e79932e88cfbe.jpg
