Air intake filter / screen

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

what do you suggest for screening intake air if bringing in air from external wall type vent set up?  I’m wondering if some screen mesh would be suitable, or should I be lookin at a filter type set up that’s gona reduce risk of mould and mildew?  Room is insulated and inside a garage.  Gets pretty cold / wet with the odd frost through winter here though.

Was thinking I could make a filter box with a filter medium - maybe even something washable like this medium?

Otherwise anyone using something like the EcoPlus bug screen from Hydroexperts?

Horti Control dust shrooms (washable and made by Unifilter) look like a good product too if anyone has seen em, but a bit pricey.

Any advice would be awesome, cheers!

Joe

Hi yeah mate screen all ports as the small mites and gnats will find there way in. Probably get in of our clothes anyway but for a few bob worth it. I always use predators for mites and gnats as soon I put the plants in the tent. Try collecting lady bug there abundant at the moment in my garden and pray mantis are good to if you can spot them at night flying around street lights. Good luck anyway mate

the better the filter the more protection

bugs & pathogens come in all shapes & sizes

one mesh size does not cater for all

i use 2 phresh intake filters while sucking air from outdoors

i think hepa filters are the standard so look at numbers for those

then try finding something cheaper with as close to numbers as poss

you could also try looking up cleanleaf air filtration in the US , they are cleaning

canna grow rooms with there systems , might be some good info on there site

not to buy there unit just drill for info on types of filters needed ect

I usually have a a fine metal mesh screen as my first barrier on grow rooms (on the outside) to keep the vermin and large cockroaches out, similar to this one..

Then on the inside, just made up some small removable flyscreens (with Aluminum frames), that can be removed occasionally for cleaning with warm soapy water. If I can find a pic I'll post it.
