Help! Seed thief

So for the last two weeks every time I plant a seed, it’s gone the next day.

Soil is disturbed and carefully pushed to the sides.

Any ideas?

Mice. I've caught them on trail camera when I wanted to know what the fuck was eating them !

as billy said mice or rats mate get them established with a few leaves if you can. a friend a few years back lost 20 seedlings slugs or snails were eating all the top leaves .

I've had mice eat them to when they first pop up and they just leave a stalk... cover with very small wire mesh or start them in a dome..

Ive caught the birds/magpies pulling seedlings out of the dirt here

Little fuckers took one of my seeds out of soil. And munched the top leaves off a seedling a while ago I learned I should cover them with something or build a moat. You can put the seed tray in the middle of a tray of water. Obviously not in the water I don't think mice like swimming

Also I got a cat. They're arseholes but they do keep mice away

Birds can be stopped by putting a few rubber snakes around plot

As for the vermin a plastic bird of prey strung 6 ft above plot

I put my babies out for some sun and the chooks ate them. Had success with a moat before too

yep mice!, i had a rat take a whole plant, it chewed it off at the base of the stem.

BTW ive had sleepy lizards eat week old seedlings , they love little green pickings , bloody mongrels
