Seedling trouble

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I've currently got 3 seedlings going at the moment they are about 3 weeks old and they seem to be growing very slowly and the leaves are small.. They did get attacked by something but it seemed to have moved on. Could that be the cause of the slow growth? Also I have this other plant going that has already started flowering is it going to get much bigger then this?post-59810-0-09077500-1508113734_thumb.jpgpost-59810-0-20057600-1508113767_thumb.jpg

I'd expect nothing much is going to come of the 3 week old seedling, frog. It seems it might be copping it on a few fronts, as in maybe getting over-watered, lack of direct sunlight throughout the day, and the soil mix doesn't seem the best. If you want to give seedlings a proper crack, get them started in a seed raising mix, or sieve some potting mix and raise them in the finer mix that you've collected. Then give them adequate light for as much of the day as possible, and avoid overwatering. It seems you've got to give them the best possible start in life to get good results.

As for the bigger one, don't be too concerned about it, let it do what it's going to do. Just avoid filtered light as they don't respond too well to it, they love direct light, all day every day.

Hi peacefrog,i like to mix my own soil mixes up and i notice the ground that you have your pots sitting on looks very fertile as the grass and weeds look very healthy,i would dig up some of that living soil from the ground and add it to your existing soil 50/50 id also add in some compost and manure, aged manure of course, any bagged manure from a hardware or nursery will be all ready aged any ready to use,if you can do that you will have a nice nutrient rich soil mix that should feed your plants till harvest and all you will have to do is water it and make sure its receiving enough light,as a rule of thumb i all ways go with mixing everything to equal parts and just to test the soil is not to rich pop a cheap tomato plant in and see how it goes for a few days if it yellows in a short period of time say 3 or 4day its to hot and you need to add more soil if it stays green and lush than you good to go and can plant you seeds straight into there final pots, cheers hope it helps and all the best with your seedlings peacefrog, cheers,,,GQ
