State of Origin - The Great Sal Grow Off!

Hey billygoat!

Apologies if I don't mention black cock or mounting gays but just wondering how u are fairing with that el cheapo tomato mix u potted up to?

I'm getting good results with sunflowers and radishes.

Need eyes in the back of ya head round here mate !! lol

It’s a bit hard for me to comment on the mix, but I’m gonna suggest it isn’t great.

If you check my current grow I have some HK’s in late flower. They are in a mix of slightly more expensive potting mix (rocky point I think is the brand off the top of my head) mixed with around 30% of dirt dug up from my aging sheep shit pile and roughly 20% perlite. And, they were transplanted from the ground to a pot while in flower.

In comparison, the Sal’s were put in to expensive worm castings mixed with that cheap tomato mix and perlite. So was the Somango in my grow diary.

Now the Sal’s and the Somango have both recently responded well to powerfeed.... I didn’t think I would need to feed them too much with the mix, or maybe they are just really hungry strains!

Not enough info to know for sure, but the Sal’s have swung right in to flower now. They are big ugly Christmas trees but they are gonna yield big if I can get them through :).

Cool cool.

Ya the tomato one was the one I was referring too.

I had a giant Russian sunflower in castings and peat in a 13l pot. Then upped to a 52l using the tomato mix and it's going pretty good.

Maybe just cos of the volume.

$4 for 25l. Thought it was a bit coarse. But nice and cheap.

So u added some red powerfeed? Responded well, good to know.

Not trying to compare sunflowers to canna but sunflowers are heavy feeders. I only watered mine but put a clover cover crop in that kinda half took. Your sales could be heavier esp given its size.

The pot you have sal with that mix is like 100l?

I'm all about mixing my own soil and all that but still buy a lot of bagged stuff.

Will check out your diary.

Cheers
