What is the Quietest acoustic ducting?

Recommended Posts

Hiya Qwobbler :)

Great wardrobe grow ... watching with interest mate.

The Greenduct is a good product and I think it comes from Westaflex - nice it's made in oz. They also have other slightly cheaper options called Tradeflex and Unilock FR1. You can buy directly from them and it might be a tad cheaper ...

Just make sure to ask for the acoustic option - they have both the thermal and acoustic version for most of their ducting. i think for most of their acoustic ducting you can either get the Rm 0.6 or the Rm 1.0. These rating seems to be more based on thermal properties, but they do mean a difference in the diameter of the polyester insulation ... I think the Rm 0.6 adds 40mm to the overall diameter and the Rm 1.0 adds 70mm - this might be slightly different based on duct size. Basically, if you buy 150mm ducting, the actual diameter of the ducting (or hole that will need to be cut) could be as large as 220mm.

Hope it helps mate

Bloody good question, Qwob's. There'd still be the same variables to consider though.

Like the Fans Max dB output, whether there's a Carbon filter and it's placement in the extraction system. As well as the length and the amount of bends and the angles within the Acoustic Ducting.

But if anyone can get their hands on the spec sheets of various ducting to compare, that would eliminate a friggin' lot of guess work.. I've never been fortunate enough to stumble across any info about various types/ and/or brands.

There you go Indy that's the one I bought and it's great.

That sounds alright, Riv. For $10 a metre, it seems your getting a well constructed product that passes certain fire regulation/s.

Just curious though, is the fibreglass pink or yellow in colour?

EDIT:  Ahh OK, something odd there. One part mentions it's "Fibreglass Insulation", then another bit saying it's "Polyester Insulation Blanket" (which should be white, iirc).

It's more like a brown colour.
