What is the Quietest acoustic ducting?

Recommended Posts

Hey stoners, just wondering on opinions on the quietest ducting..

Is the old school fibreglass stuff still the shit?? http://accenthydroponics.com/test-control-and-environment/environment/fans-and-ventilation/ducting/acoustic-ducting-150mm-x-five-metre-boxed/

Or this stuff? https://www.eppinghydroponics.com.au/greenduct-insulated-duct-150mm-x-3m.html

Cheers

Bloody good question, Qwob's. There'd still be the same variables to consider though.

Like the Fans Max dB output, whether there's a Carbon filter and it's placement in the extraction system. As well as the length and the amount of bends and the angles within the Acoustic Ducting.

But if anyone can get their hands on the spec sheets of various ducting to compare, that would eliminate a friggin' lot of guess work.. I've never been fortunate enough to stumble across any info about various types/ and/or brands.

Q u back at it again mate i thought your new fan fixed the problem? look into getting a big fan and use the variac as suggested to me they are going pretty cheap now man there are ones on ebay for like $88 instead of the jaycar ones at $200-$250

Cheers for ya input indy.... spec sheets... I shall dig around more. Can find heaps of info on this green stuff or "Tradeflex" is the other one, but no specs on the old school.

lol Nah not at it again, my fan is fine now, but im running shitty bunnings ducting. Its got little pin holes all through it. I know I could buy some black stuff, and I was going to, but I thought why not even quiet my fan noise even more with some acoustic ducting and do it right, right??? ;)

And remember, I have a small space, a BIG fan is out of the question. Remember I had a 200mm Stealth Hyperfan? Too big mate... We all dont have all the space in the world and its hard to hide a giant fan bud ;)

I used the black/grey ducting many years ago that shit was the bomb very very thick plastic i think it may have been two layers but it has been a long time since i have seen any ducting come even close to that old stuff, all this new silver ducting is shit really very crinkly u can heat it creaking for day and days after setting up

last grow i had used a Whisper Fan about 600mm long and i needed to quieten it more so i grabbed some 350-400mm acoustic ducting it was the white one the white stuff is like fairy floss it did work tho

i am too running a small tent its hard to find a good fan for small tents

yeap the hyperfan is the same size mate, way too big.

this solved my probs gazz http://accenthydroponics.com/test-control-and-environment/environment/fans-and-ventilation/mixed-flow/blauberg-turbo-150-g-mixed-flow-speed-control-and-thermo-76-watt/ ;)

my cab is same size as yours pretty much... it runs on the lowest speed all day when lights are off, then automatically speeds up (to only 1/4 of the speed) when temps go above 26 and brings the cab back down to 24 within 40 seconds ;) Its quieter than the 200mm Stealth(Silcenced) Hyperfan I used previously and it doesnt even have a silencer!

Hey Gazza

those ones require you to have a bit of electrical wiring know how.

jaycar are plug n play, hence the $$ difference

G'day Q    I have used both of em and I would probably prefer the green stuff.  It was a bit easier to handle and work with and seemed to be a much higher quality ducting.  It would be interesting to see a spec sheet on both to noise  reduction.  But yeah, much easier to work with for me anyway.
