First Setup

Hey guys, looking at putting a indo setup together, not much of a handy man so was looking to just buy everything i need from a shop or something :s, wanna spend like < $500 with a HID, small grow < 3-5 plants, anybody know where i could get the equipment/recommend some kits?

Well, I'd look secondhand first. So, the paper, markets, swapmeets, garage sales etc. And what state are you in? I could recommend you a couple of shops in the Perth area, if you're in WA.

You may get a secondhand set-up for $500 or less, but from a shop you may be looking at spending a few more $$$ I'd suggest you do a bit of homework, and suss out what you could do yourself to save some money. It's amazing what you can save that way

thx for the feedback guys , i thought id get some smick new kit for $500 or something , preferably i wouldnt mind getting some kind of kit, can prolly stretch to $1000. Low maintainance preferably, any ideas ? :whistling

600w HPS Kit, with Manta 600 shade.. im buying one this week, probably 2moro if I find the time. $220.. I've found no cheaper, you also get a choice of lamp. (Brand New)

Good fan - $100+

DWC setup - Cheap, easy to setup.. even easier to maintain.

 

GOOD GENETICS If you try Growshop alien they sell nirvana seeds for $16! Dr Chronic are $25 and Planetskunk have them going for over $40 a packet. They are all Euro based, and dr chronic is the fastest.

cool thx Nath! few questions tho:

1. When i originally said mah budget was $500 everyone was saying go second hand, yet what u just mentioned is only like $400 all up??? (i must be missing something)

2. How secure is ording seeds from outside aus?.. i dont suppose it would be a good idea to get the delivered to my grow address would it ? :s

No grow cabinet included, the cheapest and one of the best ways to set up a small grow space is to use an old 2 door wardrobe and line it with panda film and use a 430w Son-T-Agro globe in a 400w HPS ballast with a good extraction fan.

thought i would add my bit in here the most easiest hyroponic system to use would have to be the "auto pots" out of my 9 years of growing this system is the most simplest to operate

you can go with a second hand light just make sure it has warranty and that the warranty doesnt run out as u start to use the light! same goes for fans altho you can kill a light more easy than a fan... go with a 400hps to start off with and u might want to invest in a aircooled hood or you'll be bound to run into problems with this summers heat

cheap chamber (wardrobe) off ebay i scored mine for $15 it was perfect not much water damage

i wouldnt really worry about PH to start with (ok everyone blow me up for saying that) just use a nutrient with PH balancing stablizer in it and you'll be ok change it ever 2 weeks and always keep your res filled i have seen guys with 50L tubs with less than 10L of water in it i almost laughed...

 

400hps second hand $80 (i have a 600W on ebay going for $50 but would not suit a first timer)

fan $100 anything less is s...

auto pots 2 plants $90 think i seen them for

chamber $30

plus extras $50 ducting,grow wool, measuring equip etc...

keep it simple and you will have success!

i was on holidays in QLD a while ago , went into his shop , he knew why i was there , i didnt mention any thing to him, bar the fact that im a n00B and i didnt want to do any damage to the house

 

he then went on to talk about a guy he helped build a trailer for ,he was also went

on to talk about stealth in great lengths ,........ also had a laugh at how people come in with their mates , then came back the next day with out said friend to buy...

 

so i am interested to know why you made that statement?

 

or that your general advice to all , that they should keep their MOUTH SHUT @ ALL TIMES....
