What brand of ballast?

Recommended Posts

Hey how are you going? I'm new to growing and these forums.

I've read about the cheap ballasts and what dramas they can cause and am wanting to spend a few bucks on a decent 600w digital ballast. Are there brands that you can recommend and ones to steer clear of?

Thanks

hey i bought cheap ballasts before and they never really die.

get a real good pool timer instead of a cheap or digital timer for your ballast.

unless you are actually spending top dollar every time for the best of the best, I wouldn't worry too much.

(digital timers are more necessary if you get black outs every few days or every week)

environment is more important than the brand of the ballast you buy !

ive got over a lb per sq metre from growlush without c02 enrichment and only using organic nutrients in soil pots.

i dunno what people do with their grow gear.

i seen people buy 6+ solistek matrix's and still take em back within months.

they were just being a bit rough with their grow gear

environment + being careful with your gear is better.

people would argue the point. but the things they are arguing about are rather minuscule.

unless your environment is dialed in to the absolute perfection for the strain you are growing, the advantages of pricey lighting systems are minimal.

Get a nice 1.2m sq tent, a 315w cmh complete light setup (fairly on par with 600w hps) and a good centrifugal fan and good carbon filter.

decide on a growing method and feeding schedule and stick to it the entire grow cycle of the plant.

no need to do a bit of this n that from another method half way through the plant-life. problems can arise quickly listening to friends advice.

***ramble ramble  (research = read a book)
